VOICES OF OUR USERS
My challenge is that I've had asthma since I was a child and sometimes I just can't do what I want to do. Especially when doing sport.
During the course I learned more about my illness and my breathing than ever before.

What I like best are the 5 treatment goals and especially the challenges. I can easily integrate the exercises into my daily routine and everyday life.

We know it works.

We have developed this course in collaboration with doctors, respiratory therapists and patients. We encourage people to work on their breathing alongside their medical course. As a result, participants see the course of their own breathing journey in a more positive light.

Day 1

Introduction to respiratory therapy

Gain an initial insight into why we do breathing therapy and what positive effects it can have on you and your everyday life.
On this day, you will take a simple self-test to assess your status. In the practical part, you will learn the first basics of diaphragmatic breathing and breath awareness.

Day 2

Breathing techniques, body and mind

Learn even more about the effects of diaphragmatic and nasal breathing and how your physical fitness is linked to your lung health. You will get a brief insight into the mental aspects of breathing therapy and be guided through a meditation.

Day 3

Shortness of breath

What triggers shortness of breath? When and why does it occur? And what can you do yourself in an emergency situation? With explanations and exercises for self-help, today we are looking at what to do in the event of acute breathing difficulties.

Day 4

Mental effects of self-checked breathing therapy

We dive deeper into the mental aspect: Not only your physical, but also your mental well-being can increase drastically through self-reliant breathing therapy. Today, in addition to some fitness exercises, you will also learn how to use your breathing to relax.

Day 5

Breathe properly

At the end of the taster course, you will learn in more depth how correct breathing works and how you can consciously perceive and correct your breathing. You will also repeat the self-test from day 1 to check whether you have already noticed an improvement.

VOICES OF OUR USERS
I occasionally have severe coughing fits, extremely phlegmy. Exercise is becoming increasingly difficult for me as I sometimes find it hard to breathe and I often need to take breaks even when doing light exercise such as climbing stairs.

The course taught me specific exercises on how to behave in the event of breathlessness, and I can get rid of my phlegm better in the morning.

I can only recommend the program. The instructions and experts are great and I really enjoy it.

The course lasts a total of 5 days, with a daily time commitment of 20 to 45 minutes.

How do I know that the exercises are suitable for me?

The programme begins with an evaluation of your state of health and your specific breathing problems.
Throughout the course, there will be tasks and tests to help you assess your current state of health and track your improvements.
We will offer you the various exercises with different levels of difficulty and we will also show you how to vary the intensity and speed of the exercises as required.
Always remember: if you feel unwell, you should stop the exercises and talk to a doctor.

Does participation in the programme replace a visit to the doctor?

The Mybreo training programme is a complementary therapeutic measure.
If you have been diagnosed with a chronic lung disease or have symptoms, regular visits to a specialist are essential.
SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ON RESPIRATORY THERAPY

Stutz & Schreiber: The therapeutic efficacy of Western breathing therapy methods: A systematic review (2017)

"23 studies on the methods according to Middendorf, Richter, Dürckheim/Graubner, Papworth, van Dixhoorn and Buteyko as well as 1 review on the Buteyko method

were qualitatively evaluated and compared with each other in tabular form. A variety of mainly somatic, but also psychological parameters of the studies were examined. There was clear evidence of efficacy, particularly in relation to asthma, back pain, cardiac dysfunction and pain, but also in relation to various psychological parameters, especially anxiety.

Respiratory therapy interventions are safe. As previous studies have shown, no side effects are generally to be expected if a qualified diagnosis is made and a competent approach is taken. There are indications that breathing therapy methods can have a direct psychotherapeutic effect."
SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ON RESPIRATORY THERAPY

De Lima, Pinheiro, de Carvalho: Physical training in adults with asthma: An integrative approach on strategies, mechanisms, and benefits (2023)

"Individuals with moderate to severe asthma often have more symptoms and difficulty achieving adequate clinical control, which is associated with poor quality of life, despite proper pharmacological treatment. Physical training has been proposed as an adjunctive therapy for asthma. Initially, it was suggested that the effect of physical training might be attributed to the improved oxidative capacity and reduced production of exercise metabolites. However, in the last decade, there has been evidence that aerobic physical training promotes anti-inflammatory effects in asthma patients. Physical training improves BHR and EIB, asthma symptoms, clinical control, anxiety, and depression levels, sleep quality, lung function, exercise capacity, and dyspnea perception. Furthermore, physical training reduces medication consumption. The most commonly used exercise strategies are moderate aerobic and breathing exercises; however, other techniques, such as high-intensity interval training, have shown promising effects."
SCIENTIFIC STUDIES ON RESPIRATORY THERAPY

Karam, Kaur & Baptist: A modified breathing exercise program for asthma is easy to perform and effective (2017)

"Objectives: Breathing exercises are used by some asthmatic patients, yet are often difficult to perform and time-consuming. This study evaluated a simple, modified breathing exercise program regarding ease to perform and effectiveness as an adjunctive therapy.
[...]
Conclusion: A simple program of breathing exercises was found to be effective and could be completed in less than 10 minutes per day. Furthermore, there was a statistically significant improvement in ACT scores post-exercise."
